On Tuesday, September 26th, 8 Anthony Wayne FFA members competed in the District 1 Agricultural Soils CDE. The members judged three different pits of soil and completed two written tests. The team placed 4th in the district, which was two places higher than last year’s team. Senior FFA member Haley Schmersal placed 9th overall as an individual, and Sophomore member Tayler Common placed 10th as an individual. Sophomore member Patrick Miller said “I enjoyed being on the team and I look forward to competing again next year.” This year the contest was hosted by Lucas County FFA chapters, and Ronnie and Lonnie Perry hosted it at their farm. It was a great opportunity for FFA members from across Northwest Ohio to visit a Lucas County farm.
